What's it all about?

The play that everyone’s talking about. Set in rural Derry during the harvest, Jez Butterworth’s latest masterpiece opened to rave 5-star reviews at the Royal Court Theatre earlier this year, with Time Out calling it “the play of the year”.

The Ferryman has since moved to the West End, taking up residence in the enchanting Gielgud Theatre. Watch in awe as Butterworth’s Irish tale of hardship and politics unfolds. This is the dramatic event of the year, with Sam Mendes directing and a 38 strong cast –including a real life baby-, it’s guaranteed to be a memorable show.

What's the story?

The year is 1981 and the Carney family’s annual harvest celebrations are interrupted by the news that a missing man's body has surfaced in a nearby bog. With this ghost from his time with the IRA rearing its ugly head, Quinn Carney struggles against his desire to remain a peaceful farmer.

Who's in it?

The cast is led by William Houston (Quinn Carney) and Sarah Greene (Caitlin Carney).

They are joined by Maureen Beattie (Aunt Maggie Far Away), Charles Dale (Father Horrigan), Laurie Davidson (Shane Corcoran), Fra Fee (Michael Carney), Stuart Graham (Muldoon), Ivan Kaye (Tom Kettle), Mark Lambert (Uncle Patrick Carney), Carla Langley (Shena Carney), Catherine McCormack (Mary Carney), Fergal McElherron (Frank Magennis), Conor MacNeill (Diarmaid Corcoran), Rob Malone (Oisin Carney), Dearbhla Molloy (Aunt Pat Carney), Glenn Speers (Lawrence Malone) and Niall Wright (JJ Carney).

The full company is made up of 18 main adults, 7 covers, 12 children on rota and 1 baby.
