What's it all about?

Get your skates on, because you really can't afford to miss 2014's Dancing On Ice tour.

The hit ITV contest featuring British Olympic skating legends Torvill and Dean has spun off into an equally successful annual live spectacular since its debut in 2006. But with the announcement from Jayne, Chris and ITV that the 2014 series of Dancing On Ice will be the last, it follows that this will be the final tour too.

It's your last chance to join Jayne, Chris and a host of professional and celebrity skaters for a dazzling display of acrobatics, grace and glamour. But Torvill and Dean are keen to point out that it's a time for celebration, not mourning.

'Next year will be the 30th anniversary of Bolero and our Olympic Gold medal in Sarajevo,' they say. 'So for us, it seemed a fitting time to say goodbye to Dancing on Ice. We wanted to go out on a high!'

What's the story?

It may be the final go-round for the Dancing On Ice tour, but its stars are adamant that it will also be the best.

'We will not be retiring or hanging up our skates just yet,' Christopher Dean says. 'We can't wait to be back on the road.. It will be the biggest and best tour we've done to date and there will be some great surprises for audiences across the country - we hope you will come and see us.'

Who's in it?

Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean are former British, European, Olympic and World Ice Dance champions. At the Sarajevo 1984 Winter Olympics the pair became the highest scoring figure skaters of all time (for a single programme) receiving twelve perfect 6.0s and six 5.9's, with artistic impression scores of 6.0 from every judge.

They  turned professional after the 1984 Olympics, regaining amateur status briefly ten years later in 1994 to compete in the Olympics once again. The pair retired from competitive skating for good in 1998, but continued their love affair with Ice Dance as resident on-screen trainers / advisers and frequent performers on Dancing On Ice.
