The Girls Tickets
What's it all about?
Having opened to rave reviews in February this year, The Girls is the hottest ticket in town! Based on the hit 2003 film Calendar Girls, this new musical comes to London under the pen of book writer Tim Firth (who wrote the film) and songwriter Gary Barlow. These two writers have known each other for over 25 years and have finally joined forces to bring this extraordinary tale to the stage. The heart-warming story told with style and wit through Firth’s writing, and catchy tunes such as “Sunflower”, “Dare”, and the touching “Scarborough” from Barlow, combine for a moving and uplifting night at the theatre that has critics raving.
What's the story?
Your husband is battling a terrible illness and you spend hours at the hospital by his bedside. It’s made worse by the terrible seating you have to endure in the cancer ward. Deciding to do something about it, the ladies from the Women’s Institute in Yorkshire set out to raise money for a new sofa for the local hospital, so that the family and friends of the suffering may at least find some physical comfort. What the ladies are not expecting is the international recognition their fundraising achieves, with the different and daring auction ideas – including the sale of a rather risqué calendar – resulting in a collection of over £3.5 million for charity. It’s amazing what a good idea and good will can achieve.
