What's it all about?

The 1992 movie version of The Bodyguard was a worldwide smash and spawned the best-selling soundtrack album of all time. Now you can relive the passion, drama and incredible songs as they unfold live on stage.

Expect to hear all your favourite songs from the movie and more, including So Emotional, One Moment in Time, Saving All My Love, I'm Your Baby Tonight, I Wanna Dance With Somebody and I Will Always Love You, sung by the show's star and million-selling pop artist, Alexandra Burke.

What's the story?

World-famous singer Rachel Marron has all the hallmarks of a true superstar – serious talent, exceptional beauty, and an ego to match. When an unseen stalker threatens her life, Rachel's manager insists on hiring former Presidential bodyguard Frank Farmer to protect her.

She hates the idea and can't stand Frank, whom she dismisses as a paranoid pest until he saves her from rioting fans at a concert and love starts to blossom between the unlikely pair. But will Frank be able to save her from death at the hands of her mysterious would-be assassin?

Who's in it?

Brit singer Alexandra Burke makes an acclaimed West End debut as Rachel Marron, with Tristan Gemmill as Frank Farmer.

Best-known for his television role as Casualty’s Dr Adam Trueman, Tristan Gemmill’s stage credits include A Streetcar Named Desire at Theatre Clwyd and Dangerous Corner for Chichester Festival Theatre.

The Bodyguard reviews - staff

The Bodyguard is a must see for any fan of Whitney Houston, there's so many great songs such as One Moment In Time, I Will Always Love You and I Have Nothing. Both of the female lead roles are suberb singers and there's a good contrast between upbeat dance numbers and emotional songs.

-

Very cleverly adapted for the stage, creative set design and special effects, well cast and full of everything you could want in a show – humour, romance, drama, suspense and of course, the great Whitney classics sung by some very strong performers – very impressive.

-

The set was brilliant, as was Heather Headley as Rachel Marron, who has a beautiful voice. The show was slightly cheesy at times, but go to have fun and definitely get up and have a dance.

-

The music and the two leading ladies are great. Fans of Whitney Huston will love this show.

excellent show and very entertaining tthe script followed the film very well so it was a good story. The singers / actors were the best and what a star she is. The seats we had could not have been better for our needs and we would go again

Lovely birthday present from my husband, we tried to be open minded about how good the show might be, but secretly hoped it might live up to expectations of our love of the original movie & the music & Whitney's voice.. it certainly did, 100% & we would recommend it to everyone, even avid Whitney fans.

Amazing show, loved the atmosphere and great singers!

What a great show, I took my mum & sister for their birthday & they have thanked me a few times since. Seeing them both dancing & singing @ the end I'll never forget I will see it again.

Fantastic really enjoyed it nice touch at the end for everyone to join.

THE SHOW WAS BRILLIANT. WE HAD GOOD SEATS. THE LEAD SINGER HAD A BRILLIANT VOICE.

Did You Know?

Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston starred in the smash-hit 1992 movie The Bodyguard, on which the new stage show is based. But did you know that the film’s script was written in the late 1970s as a star vehicle for soul diva Diana Ross and screen legend Steve McQueen?

This version of the film was never made because McQueen wouldn’t accept second billing to Ross, and the script remained unfilmed for 16 years. When Kevin Costner eventually played the role of Frank Farmer, he based his performance style directly on McQueen's mean and moody persona. Even the close-cropped hairstyle he sports in the movie is a nod to the Great Escape and Bullitt legend’s famous thatch.
