What's it all about?
In an oak-panelled room in Oxford, ten youngbloods with cut-glass vowels and deep pockets meet, intent on restoring their right to rule. Members of an elite student dining society, the boys hunker down for a night of debauchery, decadence and bloody good wine. But this isn't just a jolly: they're planning a revolution. Welcome to the Riot Club.
Author Laura Wade is a graduate of the Royal Court Young Writers Programme. Her play Breathing Corpses won the Critics' Circle Theatre Award for Most Promising Playwright, the Pearson Playwrights Best Play Award, the George Devine Award and an Olivier Award Nomination for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre. Posh is currently being adapted into a feature film for Blueprint Pictures.
What's the story?
You're invited to a dinner party unlike any other, where morals are thrown out the window and wealth and privilege are a basic requirement. Ten Oxford University students hold a secret meeting of their exclusive Riot Club, and contemplate the future of the group as their president is graduating. As the night progresses, the boys plan and scheme their way out of trouble.
Who's in it?
Almost the entire original cast from the Royal Court, where the play was first staged, are recreating their roles for the West End run. They include film actor Leo Bill (most recently seen as hacker accomplice Trinity in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), The Inbetweeners' Henry Lloyd-Hughes, up-and-comer Tom Mison and Simon Shepherd, who you may recall as Peak Practice's Dr. Will Preston.
Who is Posh suitable for?
If you've ever wished you could be a fly-on-the-wall at Oxford University's exclusive Bullingdon Club (which boasts David Cameron and Boris Johnson as former members), this may be the closest you'll get. In an era where the well-off are being increasingly subjected to scrutiny, dark comedy Posh makes a strong satirical case for why that's as it should be.
