What's the story?
It’s the swinging 60s and food-obsessed Francis finds himself without a meal ticket. So when not one but two employers happen along, he spots a way to double his wages (and his portions). What he doesn’t bargain on is that two guvnors means double the workload, especially when one is the sister of an East End gangster in disguise.
Will Francis remember which master asked him to do what and keep them separate for long enough to earn the cash to take a certain feisty lady to Majorca? You’ll certainly find it fall-off-your-chair funny watching him try.

Rufus Hound stars as lovable chancer Frances Henshall. Comedian, presenter, actor and the owner of a fine moustache, he won that dance thing for Sport Relief dressed up as Cheryl Cole. Remember? And he’s on ‘Celebrity Juice’ every week, sat next to Fearne Cotton. Or as the eponymous hero of CBBC’s Hounded.
He hosts Radio 4’s 'My Teenage Diary', took over from Anne Robinson to present the final series of OutTake TV for BBC1 and captained the Blue Team for three series of Dave’s Argumental.
He’s been a guest on a lot of things too. Jonathan Ross’s radio show; Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two; The Apprentice: You’re Fired; Xtra Factor; The Five O' Clock Show, This Morning... He also does loads of stand-up across the country and hosts glittering awards ceremonies.
Who is One Man, Two Guvnors suitable for?
One Man, Two Guvnors is a real crowd-pleaser. Everyone, from your Granny to your girlfriend, will leave with their larynxes loosened and ribs well and truly tickled. And you only have to look at Twitter to see that it’s a celeb favourite too, so if you’re really lucky you might find yourself giggling next to Gwyneth or cackling alongside Kylie.

We thought the show was brilliant , witty,and well played. However most credit for us went to Martin Barrass playing Alfie the old waiter.He was excellent in this part it could have been written for him. Having said that the whole cast shone and I am sure it's In for a long run.

These images are from the current production of One Man, Two Guvnors at the Theatre Royal Haymarket. One Man, Two Guvnors is a turbo-charged, modernised English adaptation of Carlo Goldoni’s classic Italian play, Servant of Two Masters.
It’s the story of Francis Henshall, who becomes separately employed by criminals Roscoe Crabbe and Stanley Stubbers in 1960s Brighton. In order to prevent the discovery of his dual employment Henshall must keep his two guvnors apart.
The play was adapted by Richard Bean and directed by Nicholas Hytner. One Man, Two Guvnors originally premiered in at the National Theatre in June 2011. It’s won a number of awards, including a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play that went to James Corden.

Did You Know?
It can’t be easy stepping into a role that has earned heaps of praise, awards and a Broadway transfer for James Corden, but Rufus Hound is determined to make the part his own.
"In most people’s imaginations it’s still the James Corden role and I’m sure some people think if James Corden’s not doing it what’s the point seeing it," he said in a recent interview.
"But people have been really appreciative of what I’ve been doing. I was told early on that with James it was more a one-man show, people were going to see him, but for future iterations of the play they wanted it to be more about the story. It’s been a different job for me."
The appreciation for Rufus' work has extended to glowing reviews, but modestly he puts them down to sheer hard work.
"When you work very hard you can be proud – it tends to be when you throw something together in five minutes you generally can’t be very proud of it. When you appear on telly – especially as I have on those panel shows – its about turning up and making the best of it. You can be happy with how it’s gone but its difficult to feel pride because pride is linked to actual graft."
Did you know that One Man, Two Guvnors is based on an 18th-century Italian comedy, The Servant of Two Masters, by Carlo Goldoni? Writer Richard Bean has really made it his own, though, not only by updating it to 1960s Brighton, but also by inventing the hilariously doddery Alfie (think Manuel from Fawlty Towers but less competent) and a running gag about Aussies loving opera.
Finally, if you find your toes tapping during the show, you’ll be happy to learn that the music, written by up-and-coming composer Grant Olding, is available in the foyer afterwards.
