What's it all about?

Meet the blonde bombshell who’s not short on brains in the show that’s so popular it won the 2011 Olivier for Best New Musical. Perky Reese Witherspoon proved that blondes really do have more fun when she starred in the 2001 film. Now you can too as sorority sweetheart Elle embarks on a mission to conquer Harvard Law School – as well as a certain someone’s heart.

The jury is well and truly in on this wonderfully witty, fast paced and fantastically feel-good show. But if you have yet to offer your verdict, you should definitely go see Legally Blonde for yourself.

Who's in it?

Legally Blonde would fizz with fun and fantastic choreography even if you’d never heard of any of its stars. As it is, the stage is overflowing with screen talent, with Carley Stenson in the lead.

You won’t be disappointed by the eligible males on show either, with Stephen Ashfield (Jersey Boys) as Emmett and Ben Freeman (Emmerdale) playing Warner. And, perhaps one for the Mums here, Peter Davison (Dr Who, All Creatures Great and Small) plays the dastardly Professor Callahan.

As if that weren’t enough, no fewer than four loveable pooches have been primed to play Elle’s pampered pup Bruiser.

Suitable for

Well, clearly dog-lovers are in for the paw-fect evening. But whether you admire Elle’s spirit, want to see her get her man or just plan to watch in wonder at her wardrobe, we think you’ll find this show is a knock-out.

While youngsters will be bewitched by the Barbie house sets and bubblegum pink couture, if you’re a slightly older follower of fashion you will be raising an immaculately shaped eyebrow at the knowingly hilarious lyrics. Even determined cynics will bounce out of Legally Blonde humming the many, many memorable tunes.

What's the story?

If you’ve ever been judged by the way you look, you’ll feel for fashion student Elle Woods as boyfriend Warner dumps her for not being serious enough.

Luckily, Elle’s certainly no dumb blonde, so she follows him to law school to show she’s as bright as she is beautiful. There her unique talents prove useful in cracking a high-profile case, but will they also make her realise her own worth and attract a man who values the real her?

Staff Reviews

This is one of the best original musicals in the last few years - the music is catchy (and makes for great repeat listening afterwards!), the dialogue and lyrics surprisingly intelligent and witty (how many musicals do you know that make references to Thomas Hobbes?) and the story is all-around feel-good. Don't avoid it just because it looks pink and girly - this is a show with a great message and everyone will find something to like!

I’ve got such a soft spot for this show. It’s such bubbly, breezy fun. The songs are super-smart too. It’s actually better than the film – much more wit, really catchy poppy tunes and top drawer dancing from the guy who did ‘Hairspray’. I saw this on Broadway and the London cast are even slicker and in their hands the dialogue is funnier as well. Great fun.

-Tim

This is a really happy and cheerful show! Follows the story of the movie and the music is great.

We took our two teenage daughters to see Legally Blonde. All of us thought it was brilliant. Funny, poignant and with the usual world class dancing and singing you expect of the West End. If you are looking for feel good top notch entertainment for all the family this is it.
