What's it all about?
Sometimes a band is so iconic its members seem more like living legends than flesh and blood. Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons is one of those.
You know all their hits (even if you think you don’t). And the joyous, feel-good, Olivier Award-winning Jersey Boys is your chance to glimpse the men behind the music – the mafia links, the jail stints, the fall-outs and the ultimate triumph of one of the greatest bands of all time.
What's the story?
Jersey Boys certainly isn’t one of those musicals that pegs a few songs on a flimsy story. You’ll be gripped as you learn how the area they came from shaped the lives, loves and songs of The Four Seasons – and all straight from the horse’s mouth as each band member takes a turn at telling their tale.
You’ll hear how mob connections, bad debts, prison time and jealousy took their toll, but also how talent took them to the very top. And along the way you’ll find out one or two fascinating facts – how fellow Jersey boy Joe Pesci turned the trio into a quartet, how the band got their name, and even how the mega-hit 'Can’t Take My Eyes Off You' almost never was.
Who's in it?
From 'Big Girls Don’t Cry' to 'December 1963 (Oh, What a Night)', 'Walk Like a Man', 'Working My Way Back To You' and 'Bye, Baby (Baby, Goodbye)', you’ll be wowed by the sheer wealth of hits – not to mention added extras from the girl band they toured with. No wonder the cast album garnered a Grammy.
And speaking of the Jersey Boys cast, they’ve just been joined by Jon Lee of S Club 7 fame, who shares the role of Frankie with solo artist Ryan Molloy (Jerry Springer The Opera). And Jon Boydon (We Will Rock You), David McGranaghan amd Edd Post ably take on the rest of the boys – Tommy, Nick and Bob.
Who is Jersey Boys suitable for?
You’ll particularly love Jersey Boys if you’re a baby boomer. But this really is one of those shows people see, then come back again with the whole family.
You’ll instantly respond to the doo-wop beats of those timeless classics, whatever your age. And if you’re a fan of The Sopranos or Goodfellas, you’ll be surprised to find this story has edge as well as fantastic songs and a whole lot of heart.
Please Note: Some authentic New Jersey strong language may make this inappropriate for young children.

This show is really clever - both in staging and in structure, with each of the Seasons taking over the narration during the course of the show. One of the funniest moments is watching the older generation’s face when the show starts with the 2000 French version of 'December ‘63' - all hip hop moves and heavy drum beats...they all panic just a bit that the whole show is going to be like that, I think!
It was really great as you know all the songs, despite not knowing that they were responsible for them! I found it very interesting to learn more about Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons.

We enjoyed the show... Thought the casting was brilliant and the music was great. We expected a bigger 'cast' and felt this would have added more energy to the show and made more of the great music! Loved the screening of the actual performances and how the cast mirrored this on stage. Brilliant

Did You Know?
When they heard about Jersey Boys, certain associates of deceased mobster Angelo “Gyp” DeCarlo actually contacted the writers to gently suggest that respect was accorded to their boss in the script.
But band member Bob Gaudio recalls these sorts of brushes with the mafia were once all in a day’s work: “We certainly rubbed shoulders with some unsavoury characters, but you know, the clubs were essentially owned by the Mob… I saw some pretty heavy things back then, and we almost bit the dust a few times. But it was always interesting.”
Steven Spielberg has bought the film rights to Jersey Boys, but has said he’s happy to wait until it’s no longer in theatres. Judging from audience enthusiasm so far, we think he’ll be waiting some time.
