I love Halloween. Call it arrested development, but I do. I was a gruesome kid in many ways, with a penchant for staying up late to watch horror double-bills on TV, building model kits of giant praying mantises devouring New York, and leaping out of the shadows at the top of the stairs to scare the living daylights out of my sisters. Dressing up as a skeleton and scrounging off the neighbours felt more like Christmas to me than Christmas itself. Old habits die hard, I guess.
