What's it all about?

Miranda Hart makes her West End debut as the infamous Miss Hannigan in a revival of the favourite family musical Annie. Since making her debut on the Broadway stage in 1977, Annie has charmed audiences the world over, and this new production marks the first return of the show to the West End since 1999! Classic songs such as Little Girls, Easy Street, You’re Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile and the iconic Tomorrow are bound to delight in Nikolai Foster’s 40th anniversary production. Miss Hannigan is the role of a lifetime, and Miranda Hart follows in the footsteps of Carol Burnett, Sheila Hancock, Sue Pollard and even Paul O’Grady to take on one of musical theatre’s best loved villains. Opening at the Piccadilly Theatre in May 2017, Annie is bound to be the West End’s summer smash!

What's the story?

Based on the comic strip Little Orphan Annie, the musical charts the journey of Annie as she goes from forgotten orphan to daughter of a billionaire. Set in 1930’s New York, during the Great Depression, Annie and her fellow orphans are forced to live a life of misery in the drunken Miss Hannigan’s demanding orphanage.

Annie’s luck soon changes when she is picked to spend Christmas with the known billionaire, Oliver Warbucks. As Warbucks and his employees begin to fall in love with the feisty young girl, Miss Hannigan and her cronies hatch a plan to snatch her away and get some fortune of their own.

Who's in it?

Miranda Hart leads the cast in the iconic role of Miss Hannigan and is joined by Alex Bourne as Daddy Warbucks, Holly Dale Spencer as Grace Farrell, Jonny Fines as Rooster and Djalenga Scott as Lily. The role of Annie will be shared by Madeleine Haynes, Lola Moxom and Ruby Stokes.

Please note: Miranda Hart appears as Miss Hannigan until September 17th 2017. The appearance of any artist cannot be guaranteed.
