There's a major cast shake-up happening at mega-musical Mamma Mia! at the West End's Novello Theatre. In fact, it's the biggest in the smash Abba show's history, with 24 of the 33 cast members changing on Monday 10 June.
Dianne Pilkington (pictured) will lead the cast as Donna Sheridan. Her recent West End credits include Master Class at the Vaudeville Theatre, The 39 Steps at the Criterion, and the role Glinda in Wicked at the Apollo Victoria, which she played for three years. She played Amalia in the Chichester Festival Theatre production of She Loves Me. She also appeared in Tom Hooper's film version of Les Misérables.
Joining Dianne in the cast from 10 June are Jane Milligan as Rosie, Richard Trinder as Sam, Emma Crossley as Sophie Sheridan, Oliver Tilney as Sky, Jessica Daley as Ali, Stephanie Clift as Lisa, Dickie Wood as Pepper and Dan Krikler as Eddie.
Kim Ismay will continue as Tanya, Neil Roberts as Harry Bright and James Gaddas as Bill Austin. At certain performances, the role of Donna Sheridan will continue to be played by Claire Poyzer.
Mamma Mia! mixes the peerless pop songs of Abba with an escapist fantasy of family and friendship that unfolds on a Greek island paradise.
With music & lyrics by Benny Andersson & Björn Ulvaeus, Mamma Mia! is written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast. The production is designed by Mark Thompson, with lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce & Bobby Aitken and musical supervision, additional material & arrangements by Martin Koch.
